Behind the brand: Serina & Treatsy

Updated: Nov 28, 2020

While 2020 has been an unusual year, to say the least, one good thing to come out of it is the rise of the side hustle. As part of our Behind the brand series, we caught up with Treatsy owner, Serina. She told us what inspired the brand and why she loves making her custom made chocolate covered strawberries.

What inspired you to start Treatsy?

I have always been a creative person amongst my friends and family. Before I launched Treatsy, I used to make my little chocolate-covered treats for everyone I knew. Then, with a little encouragement from my lovely sister in law Bal and cousin Vanisha, I decided to go for it and launch the business. It’s definitely been a learning experience but I'm really enjoying it!

How long have you been making chocolate covered strawberries?

Treatsy launched in June this year, so it's still pretty new!

What is you favourite colour palette to work with when it comes to chocolate?

If you take a look at the Treatsy social media pages, you will see most of my clients love pink. Lucky for me, I’m such a girly girl and absolutely love pink so it makes me so happy when so many of my clients choose it. I love to pair the pink with rose gold and white normally. I also love to add in roses to most of the creations as I think they go so well together.

How do you balance a full-time job and a side hustle?

It has definitely been a learning process. Working in the legal profession, my job can get extremely busy and stressful. But I find Treatsy is a nice escape and helps me relax as I really enjoy the work that I do. I do also tend to take most of my orders for evenings and weekends.

Do you have any plans to expand Treatsy in the future?

Absolutely - I have some great ideas which I can’t wait to reveal in the future! I own a business which allows me to be as creative as I want so I am always coming up with different ideas. I am definitely really excited to be giving The Lifestyle Review my first Christmas arrangement!

What has been your favourite order so far?

I have to admit, I have so many different orders which I have been obsessed with.

I made a batch of bright pink and purple strawberries for a client which I loved. I decorated them with alternating colours and added a few faux flowers to the display. Another one of my favourites is the Berry Hot Air Balloons. I made one as a new home present and I loved the neutral tones! Our hot air balloon boxes feature a personalised balloon with a mix of gourmet chocolate, toppings and more.

I do believe my work is unique and when I started my business I had not seen anything like what I create in Bradford!
